The Project

Sustainable cocoa, backed by data

The STAR project, funded by the Rainforest Alliance's Africa Cocoa Fund, set out to improve sustainable cocoa production in the Kakum enclave of Ghana's Central Region.

It promoted Integrated Management Systems and traceability, climate adaptation, farm geodata collection, Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), and Skills for Marketing and Rural Transformation (SMART) strategies among lead cocoa farmers.

All participating farms were fully mapped and integrated into a digital platform β€” driving a substantial rise in traceable cocoa farms owned by farmer-group members.
