Bhungroo: the straw that stores a season
A World Bank Marketplace award-winning technology from our Indian partners, Bhungroo frees waterlogged farmland in the rains, stores the water underground, and pumps it back for dry-season farming.

Too much water, then too little β solved
Bhungroo β "straw" in Gujarati β frees waterlogged, flood-prone farmland of excess water and draws it underground, where it can be stored for up to 365 days for dual-season farming.
It also reduces soil salinity, making planting more productive. Proven across India β especially Gujarat β Conservation Alliance now promotes Bhungroo among smallholder farmers in Ghana's three Northern regions, the Afram Plains and the Accra Plains, and is piloting it in Sierra Leone and Liberia to rehabilitate swamps degraded by small-scale mining.
A life-changing opportunity for farmers challenged by recurrent flooding, waterlogging and drought.
