Little Green Hands (Environmental Education For Children).

Tomorrow’s leaders need to be equipped for tomorrow’s challenges, and we must adequately prepare our children for the future they will inherit. That requires a commitment to providing children with environmental education that helps them become the educated thought leaders of tomorrow.

This calls for a new approach to inculcating environmental values in children.There is evidence to suggest that programs that aim at changing the conduct of children towards the environment are more likely to be successful than when adults are the target. It is in this light that Conservation Alliance (CA), a not-for-profit environmental organisation, has rolled the Environmental Education Program (EEP)  to bring the issues of Ghana’s environment to our young minds.

Environmental Education for Children (Little Green Hands) is an annual program, meant to provide the platform for children to learn about the environmental issues that persistently confront the country. Every year, experts from CA engages children and youth on topics such as climate change, water, sanitation, hygiene, waste management and other environmental related issues that persistently confront the country and find possible remedies to it.  Each of the topics selected comes with a theme to shape children’s attitude towards the environment and provide them with the  foundation of building their urge for environmental protection in the future.

CA engages school children and youth between the ages of 8 -18 years and works closely teachers who service as supervisors in monitoring the progress of student in school.

CA has over the years brought together the people and skills needed in tackling environmental issues across West Africa. To ensure that this program is successful, we invite individuals, organizations and institutions to support the the wide-scale implementation to the program to cover the ten regions of Ghana. Organisations can support this program as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility and ultimately contributing to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
