Policy and Research Development
CA promotes public policies that seek to enhance the sustainable use of natural resources by individuals, companies and institutions. We partner with government agencies, research institutions, private sector and communities in changing the behavior of people towards to the use of biodiversity. CA participates in policy dialogue and review biodiversity strategies including Climate Change, Forest and Wildlife policies and makes appropriate recommendations. CA is an active member of the National Biodiversity Committee and a member of the International Partnership for Satoyama Initiative (IPSI).
Currently, CA is working with the Environmental Protection Agency, JAK foundation and NYCOB in advocating for the implementation of Business and Biodiversity Offset program (BBOP) in Ghana. The objective of this movement is to position biodiversity and ecosystems at the heart of Ghana’s development process.
Rapid Biodiversity Assessment
The earth’s ecosystems comprise millions of species and underpin the well-being of all human societies. Knowledge about these ecosystems is our strongest tool to ensure the future of life on our planet — yet much of the natural world remains poorly known and unexplored CA’s Rapid Assessment Program (RAP) works to fill this void. We evaluate the state of a landscapes biodiversity, the health of its ecosystems and the multiple benefits that nature provides to people. By doing so, CA provides information that can guide effective decision-making about conservation.
Socio- Economic Studies
Socio-economic research is one of the most important areas of activity at CA. Here we study the phenomena that lie at the intersection of the social and economic spheres of rural communities. Moreover, while conducting marketing and socio-political research there is a need for information about the level of socio-economic development, the population’s quality of life (urban, rural, etc.), local problems, and the peculiarities of people’s economic behavior. The main source of such information is social research.
Data Management
Data management is an administrative process that includes acquiring, validating, storing, protecting, and processing required data to ensure the accessibility, reliability, and timeliness of the data for its users. CA seeks to make important data readily available for use by both private and public institutions to help make informed decisions such as policies and laws to ensure the sustainable development of rural communities in the country.
