BIOGAS

Ghana has serious challenges regarding energy supply in both urban and rural areas, due to the over reliance of mainly hydroelectric energy systems. Biogas provides a good alternative to complement the existing energy sources. CA through its Biogas program seeks to promote the biogas production as a tool for clean energy production,  waste management and also for environemental conservation.
Sewage, household waste and agricultural waste are precious raw materials to be used to produce biogas of domestic and industrial usage. Biogas is a fuel produced during the anaerobic digestion of agricultural, household and fecal waste. The biogas waste is stored in specially constructed containers, known as a bio digester or biogas plant. Besides producing fuel, the sludge from biogas digesters have the potential to be used to produce high-nutrient fertilizers for both urban and rural farming.

The promotion and adoption of the biogas technology is an effective means of enhancing sustainable growth and achieving energy self-sufficiency. CA in collaboration with Biogas Technologies Africa Limited (BTAL) is currently promoting the adoption of biogas among second cycle educational institutions and communities in the Central region of Ghana.
