NBSAP

Conservation Alliance International plays a pivotal role in reviewing and updating Ghana’s National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP), a key framework guiding the country’s efforts to conserve biodiversity and ensure the sustainable use of natural resources. As a technical partner, Conservation Alliance provides scientific expertise, policy insight, and stakeholder engagement support to align national biodiversity priorities with global targets under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KM-GBF). Through its participatory and evidence-based approach, Conservation Alliance works closely with the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology (MEST), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and other national stakeholders to assess progress made under the previous NBSAP, identify existing gaps, and propose strategic actions for effective implementation.

The organization ensures that the revised plan addresses emerging biodiversity challenges, integrates nature-based solutions, and promotes inclusive conservation that benefits both ecosystems and communities. Ultimately, Conservation Alliance’s contribution to the NBSAP review strengthens Ghana’s capacity to meet its international commitments, improve ecosystem resilience, and secure sustainable livelihoods for local populations. This effort underscores the organization’s commitment to advancing biodiversity conservation as a foundation for climate action, sustainable development, and national prosperity.
