LAUNCH OF LITTLE GREEN HANDS 2015
Efficient and effective waste management systems have proven to enhance human health and wellbeing. One of the major environmental challenges confronting Ghana is solid and liquid waste disposal and management. Poor waste disposal and management largely account for the incidence of most preventable diseases and the huge health bill of the country. A number of policy research practitioners have linked poor waste management to decline in socio-economic development of a country. A range of initiatives has been implemented to reduce the adverse impacts of poor waste disposal and management on communities but these approaches have had limited and often disappointing results.
Conservation Alliance (CA) has over the years brought together the people and skills needed in tackling environmental issues across West Africa. Conservation Alliance in partnership with The Us Embassy Ghana, is promoting Environmental Education for Children program (Little Green Hands).
Little Green Hands is an annual environmental education program tailored to create environmental awareness among children. It is organized by the Education and Outreach Department of Conservation Alliance with some partners.
Every year, Little Green Hands picks out a pertinent environmental issue and shares with our young minds. This year our focus is Sanitation with a theme:
“Stimulating Environmental Care and Ownership in Our Future Generation Today”.
