CA CONTRIBUTES TO AGRICULTURAL POLICY FOR NORTHERN GHANA THROUGH KNOWLEDGE FAIR.

In their bid to enhance the agricultural landscape of Northern Ghana, the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) and International Water Management Institute (IWMI) organized a high level two (2) day knowledge Fair entitled Enhancing Research into Policy and Practice” in Tamale. The program brought together high performing institutions including Conservation Alliance to share experiences in the implementation of a myriad of initiatives aimed at improving agricultural productivity among smallholder farmers and other value chain actors. CA used this opportunity to showcase its water management systems/projects including the PAVE, Barsha Pump and Bhungroo. CA explained the impacts of these technologies in enhancing the climate resilience of smallholder farming communities, and also ensuring sustainable crop production.

The knowledge fair was well represented by implementing institutions within the Water, Lands and Ecosystem (WLE) program, Integrated Water and Agriculture Development (IWAD), University for Development Studies, International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC), and Savannah Agriculture Research Institute (SARI) among many others. The two (2) day event created a road map for linking the various initiatives within the landscape, and also sharing evidence based lessons.
