Enhancing Community Participation in Natural Resources Management.

Natural resource management is enhanced when local communities are made to be an integral part of its governance. The Community Resource Management Area (CREMA) an initiative by the Wildlife department of the Forestry Commission in Ghana has adequately involved local communities in the management of their natural resources. The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resource engaged Conservation Alliance to facilitate the establishment of the CREMA within four landscapes in Ghana’s high forest Zones. They included, the Juaboso CREMA, the Sefwi Wiaso Akontombraman CREMA, the Enchi CREMA, and the Bia CREMA. Conservation Alliance successfully implemented the task.
