With funding support from Zijin Golden Ridge Limited, a Biodiversity Net Gain intervention (2025–ongoing) was initiated to mitigate the ecological impacts of the Akyem Mine, in line with the Zijin Biodiversity Management Standard and the commitment to achieve no net loss and preferably net gain of key biodiversity values. The initiative focuses on developing a suitable offset landscape in collaboration with the Forestry Commission, guided by socio-economic assessments, stakeholder mapping, and structured community engagement to ensure sustainable conservation outcomes.
